Cooking rice
Best results for cooking rice depend on the right proportion of rice to water. When
preparing rice, follow the instructions on the packaging and check if:
* you have plain, uncooked rice?
* the rice has been pre-cooked or steamed?
Pre-cooked rice is available under such names as “instant rice”, etc.
All information about rice (white or brown, long-grain, wild, basmati, etc.) concerns its
quality and taste. This has little meaning for cooking the rice.
A pinch of salt may be added for taste, if desired.
Preparing normal (raw) rice
If rice is washed before cooking, it will be less sticky but will lose some of its nutritional
qualities.
If uncooked rice is left 5-10 minutes to absorb water, it will be softer when cooked.
1. Measure out the desired amount of rice and pour it into the rice cooker.
2. Pour the proper amount of water into the inner pot. The amount of water depends on
the amount of rice used, and is determined using the scale on the inner pot. If, for
example, you want to cook 4 cups of rice, fill the inner pot with water to the 4 CUP
level.
3. Place the filled inner pot inside the outer pot and close the lid until you hear a “click”
sound.
CAUTION!
Ensure that there are no crumbs on the outer surface of the inner pot or on the
heating plate.
4. Insert the plug into a socket.
5. Push the ON/OFF switch down. The red “COOKING” indicator will come on. The lid
must be closed during cooking.
6. After a time the rice cooker will automatically switch into keep warm mode, and the
green „KEEP WARM” indicator will come on.
7. Leave the rice inside the closed pot for another five minutes before removing.
